I have always loved the legal sector and wanted to be apart of it and to help people within the legal system. My name is Sam. I'm a mature student currently studying with the Open University, about to begin the final stages of my LLB. I've always had an interest in Law, but I opted to go into the health industry and have worked in the NHS for the last 15 years. Three years ago I decided to go back to my study, with a view to pursuing a career in medical and health law. I have provided support to colleagues facing FTP and internal disciplinary investigations and I have worked closely as a support liaison with families who were involved in inquest proceedings. I obviously have a strong interest in all things covered under the medical and health law umbrella, but I am keen to build my knowledge in areas such as criminal, human rights, COP and mental health.

I currently work for the Government after spending six years in aviation, to further advance my skills and knowledge to be able to take forward to my legal career. I already have an interest in Cooperate law, Public law and Civil/Human Rights law but keen to explore other legal avenues.

Along with all this, I am constantly being introduced to new areas of law and am only intrigued and fascinated as to what more I can learn from this experience. My interests are wide ranging and include family law, private client, media law and IP.

Will Howard

My name is Will Howard and I am currently completing my GDL at University of Law. Having received a BA in Philosophy, Psychology and History of Scientific Thought from the University of Leeds, I worked at an investment boutique in London for nearly 4 years. Alongside this, I completed a part-time MSc in Real Estate from UCEM. Leaving the job in February 2020 meant that I inadvertently found myself with a great deal of time to reflect on my life to date and assess how I could put my energies into effecting tangible good within the world going forward. Consequently, I am now requalifying to pursue a career that will enable me to meaningfully participate in the pivot towards green energy, green infrastructure and curating a more sustainable future for our planet, in whichever avenue of law that those aims can be best delivered through.

Hello! My name is Tadiwa Daka, I am a GDL graduate from The University of Law in Leeds. Law is a pervasive subject that affects all parts of our lives from large to small, my motivation comes from the idea that this is an ever-evolving field where the landscape of the field can change at any moment. Having initially studied a degree in biology at Liverpool John Moores University, experience at law firms during my time gave me an insight into the life of a lawyer and the impact legal professionals can have on a community and through this experience I decided to go into further study and take on law at a postgraduate level. Through this project I hope to play a part in making legal help more widely accessible to those who may struggle to have access to it otherwise, I am passionate about helping people to overcome the barriers they may face when going through the legal system. Ultimately my goal is to become a solicitor, I aspire to practice law within the property sector and become involved in conveyancing and the law surrounding these transactions.

Maya Supra-Wood

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Hello! My name is Maya Supra-Wood and I am in my final year at the University of Westminster studying law. Whilst walking through a street market as a young girl I recognised, without hesitation, the iconic Burberry 'Nova check' painted across a stall of clothing. These garments were not Burberry owned but rather they were imitations of the Burberry trademark. This developed my curiosity in the types of legal protection which can be afforded to the fashion industry. Having developed my own small vintage clothing business via an online platform, I wish to pursue a career which connects my love for fashion and commerce with my passion for law. For these reasons, I am particularly interested in commercial law and intellectual property with the ultimate goal of forging a career in fashion law.

Georgia Rose Hardman

Community Law Project - Paralegal

My name is Georgia Rose Hardman. I am currently a first year law student studying law LLB at Edge Hill University. I’ve always had a fascination with law, deepening at GCSE years, and it’s ability to impact every tiny detail of our lives almost silently in some aspects. I have a growing fascination with criminal law and commercial law. Criminal simply because I believe it is a deeply morally complex area of law, in some instances a persons liberty is at stake. Law is not about the “headline” cases, rather the down to earth situations people face everyday, and utilising my knowledge to provide assistance to those in need.

Megan Bell

Community Law Project - Paralegal

I am a 3rd Year Law Student, studying at Edge Hill University, and I am currently due to graduate in July. I am also the Vice President of the Law Society, focusing on Mentoring and running the Social Media Pages. I am also a placeholder to study the LPC LLM in September 2021 at ULAW Liverpool. Since studying at Edge Hill, my passion for law has only since developed. I have wanted to peruse this career from being only young having been very interested in watching crime or lawyers on the television, and seeing the need for justice, alongside reform; especially fascinated with how law has changed since then. I believe I enjoy it the most because it's something I actually feel I can excel in. It has developed my confidence and academics greatly, as I have found myself developing a deeper interest in areas such as Media Law, Employment Law and Family Law, as well as Alternative Dispute Resolution having done an additional course in this with HUNT ADR. I believe my degree, alongside other ventures have opened my eyes to why assisting individuals to understand the law itself is so important, and so humbling knowing that you're helping somebody in fighting injustice, and I feel that this career path is perfect for me, for this reason.

My name is Sharon Don-Okhuofu and I am a final year law student at the University of Warwick planning to study the LPC in September 2021. Having grown up in Nigeria and studying Law in the UK, my passion for the law stems from recognising discrepancies in access to justice in both of these jurisdictions. This has led to my interest in making legal advice accessible to both small and medium sized enterprises, as well as individuals in need of legal aid. I am passionate about corporate and commercial law, real estate, and housing and tenant law, and I hope to use this project to make these areas of law easily accessible to the public.

Amelia Ava Alexis

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Hey there! I am Amelia Ava Alexis, a year 2 undergraduate Law student in Durham University. My heart goes out to those that are unable to have access to legal remedies due to the lack of opportunity. Especially as a time as uncertain as now, there has been many more people in need for legal help. Thus, I hope to be able to be able to close these gaps by making legal help accessible even for those who are not as well to do. There is a broad spectrum in relation to law, and there are many practice areas, often overlapping with one another. With the experience I have up till date, I am still mostly inclined to the areas of corporate and finance law as I am intrigued by the way it is able to connect people, things, and ideas. Additionally, I am a huge people person and I love to interact with people of different cultures and backgrounds exchanging valuable insights, so do reach out to me if you would like to have chat!
