During my LLB I had the opportunity to work and understand the importance of law and justice for all citizens. Even though I am the most passionate about international law, human rights, civil law, and criminal law, I am happy to work and help in all other areas.

I recently graduated from the University of Law with my LLM LPC. Prior to this is studied for my GDL at Bournemouth University. I made the decision to change career to law because I like helping normal everyday people and the best asset I have to offer them is my brain. Naturally my chosen areas of law reflect my desire to help normal everyday people: Advanced Criminal Litigation, Employment Law, Family Law, Private Client Law, and Immigration Law. I grew up in a working class environment amongst the more disadvantaged in society, and since legal aid was cut in 2012 the disadvantaged are even worse off. This is why I chose the areas of law above and also why I chose to volunteer for the National Community Law Project.

My name is Fahima Jannath, and I graduated from Brunel University with a degree in Sociology. Shortly, after graduating I started to work within the Local Government as a Social Care Advisor and my role has been to complete Care Needs Assessments and Carers Assessments that align with the Care Act 2014. As well as this I have also previously worked within the legal field.
At present I am studying MA Law at the University of Law and I have successfully completed seven core modules which includes Public Law, Contract Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Land Law and Equity and Trusts. Since I am approaching the end of my course, I am seeking to broaden my legal experience within different practise areas.

I have a variety of experience as a Paralegal in both general Wills, Trusts and Estates including Will drafting, the Probate Process and the drafting of Lasting Powers of Attorney as well as direct experience in Court of Protection Matters in a top 50 UK Law firm. I have a vast range of experience and interests and have also previously completed voluntary work at Victim Support for a couple of years from the age of 17, (making me the youngest ever successful applicant to volunteer at the time of my appointment).

My name is Holly. I am a LPC LLM student at University in York. Previously, I completed my LLB undergraduate degree with a 2:1 classification. I have always had a deep interest in law and the way it can adapt to an ever changing society, even though it can be argued that some laws still do have a draconian and archaic nature. I have a keen interest in Family, Immigration & Asylum and Real estate and love the prospect of helping someone to better their life. I am particularly interested in Immigration and Asylum Law considering the recent circumstances in Afghanistan and the British attitude towards such tragic events. However, I do find counter-terrorism Law particualrly engaing as it is interesting to see the powers and restrictions afforded to individuals in these tragic circumstances.

Hi, my name is Jade Waistnidge, and I am currently studying the GDL at the University of Law Manchester. Before this, I graduated from The University of York with an MA in Psycholinguistics after studying my BA in Linguistics at The University of Manchester. My non-traditional route to the law has given me wider perspective as to how the law functions in general society, especially from a linguistic point of view. At 40, I came to the UK to further my studies. Originally from Malaysia, I have successfully achieved LLB (Hons) with a Legal Practice Certificate in 2008 and many hands on experience in multifaceted working environments! I had even successfully developed myself with the ability to navigate complex challenges. I believe everyone should have access to legal service and justice, regardless of income. Sadly during the last decade, it has become more difficult for the vulnerable and people on low incomes to access legal service when they need it most. The cost of skilled legal services is very high and beyond the reach of many. They may be deprived from their rights!
NCLP is providing the community, the legal service that could help them from the risk of being locked out of legal advice and justice, simply because they can’t afford a lawyer. I am joining NCLP because I believe I should be a part of this cause. I have the legal experience and knowledge which I can offer to help vulnerable and under privileged people in our society resolving their legal problems. I can help them understand their rights and know what steps they can take next. I hope I can help solve their issues and bring positive impact to their matters.

My name is Maryam Rahmani, I recently graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Bachelors of Law (LLB). My passion for self research is what sparked my interest in law, I like to endeavour in research as it allows me to interpret and validate my findings in a subjective manner. When researching one of my first cases, I realised how various laws can be interpreted in many different ways and the complexity of law. There are many fields of law I want to explore, the main ones I gravitate towards are Human Rights, Criminal, Commercial and Civil Rights law. Being born in a country where the legislation has specific areas where women do not accord to the same rights as men, it's always been a passion of mine to help people in a country where the law doesn't tie them to specific policies and ensure justice is served for everyone equally. My interests not related to Law which I find therapeutic include yoga, fitness and self research. I enjoy taking long hikes along scenic routes, as i find it a great way to de-stress and keep focused.

I was initially interested in how law impacts public policy and I chose to become a lawyer because I believed the law to be a powerful tool for social change and the benefit of the public.
