Jade Waistnidge

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Hi, my name is Jade Waistnidge, and I am currently studying the GDL at the University of Law Manchester. Before this, I graduated from The University of York with an MA in Psycholinguistics after studying my BA in Linguistics at The University of Manchester. My non-traditional route to the law has given me wider perspective as to how the law functions in general society, especially from a linguistic point of view. It is for this reason that I have a keen interest in Intellectual Property Law. I am also interested in mental health law, health care and social care laws, family law as well as Human Rights within Public Law. My interest in healthcare has also opened up an interest in Medical Negligence as well and this is another area that I am keen to sink my teeth into.

Nosheen Bibi

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Hello, I am a Law graduate from The Open University where I studied while also working. My passion for the law has stemmed from experiences of those closely around me which made me understand not only the relevance and importance but the lack of knowledge and how inaccessible it can be. The areas of the law I am most interested in are immigration, family, and property but I am open to working in all areas. I am really looking forward to applying my skills and knowledge while also broadening my experience and skillset. I believe that everyone should have access to legal aid regardless of their financial situation and would like to do my part to help. In the future I hope to qualify as a solicitor and work internationally.

Fariza Shahuddin

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Life begins at 40. (Walter Pilkins,1932) It’s really true for me indeed. Haha!

At 40, I came to the UK to further my studies. Originally from Malaysia, I have successfully achieved LLB (Hons) with a Legal Practice Certificate in 2008 and many hands on experience in multifaceted working environments! I had even successfully developed myself with the ability to navigate complex challenges. I believe everyone should have access to legal service and justice, regardless of income. Sadly during the last decade, it has become more difficult for the vulnerable and people on low incomes to access legal service when they need it most. The cost of skilled legal services is very high and beyond the reach of many. They may be deprived from their rights!

NCLP is providing the community, the legal service that could help them from the risk of being locked out of legal advice and justice, simply because they can’t afford a lawyer. I am joining NCLP because I believe I should be a part of this cause. I have the legal experience and knowledge which I can offer to help vulnerable and under privileged people in our society resolving their legal problems. I can help them understand their rights and know what steps they can take next. I hope I can help solve their issues and bring positive impact to their matters.

Nicola Philcox

Hi! My name is Nicola Philcox and I'm a current third year student studying LLB Law at Cardiff University. The decision to progress in a career of law began during my A-Levels studies of sociology. The want to make a difference in supporting people through difficult situations in their lives was and remains a key driver. This incentive was affirmed through my work experience ventures in County Councils and volunteering within Girlguiding and lead to the career aspiration to become a solicitor.

Hello, I am Paris-Elizabeth and I am currently studying for my LLB Law at University of Portsmouth. Although, at the beginning I wanted to be in the criminal sector as I got further into my legal journey I have gained a passion for Intellectual Property and Contracts so wish to pursue a career in these areas.

By volunteering for the National Community Law Project as a Paralegal, I aim to enhance my legal understanding, be a part of something that helps people in various aspects of the law and fulfil some long term goals of mine on my journey to becoming a Lawyer.

My name is Alexis and I have recently completed the LPC LLM at the University of Law, Leeds. Prior to this I studied at the University of Hull where I gained my Bachelor of Laws with Honours. I became interested in law at around the age of 16 when I began studying law in college and it's kept me interested ever since. Law is such a broad and diverse topic and there is always more to learn, which is one reasons why I enjoy it so much. I have always had a natural instinct to help others and I can't think of no better way to be able to do so than by applying and sharing my knowledge with those who need it the most. The areas of law which I am particularly passionate about are family, real estate and criminal law.

Mary Rahmani

Community Law Project - Paralegal

My name is Maryam Rahmani, I recently graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Bachelors of Law (LLB). My passion for self research is what sparked my interest in law, I like to endeavour in research as it allows me to interpret and validate my findings in a subjective manner. When researching one of my first cases, I realised how various laws can be interpreted in many different ways and the complexity of law. There are many fields of law I want to explore, the main ones I gravitate towards are Human Rights, Criminal, Commercial and Civil Rights law. Being born in a country where the legislation has specific areas where women do not accord to the same rights as men, it's always been a passion of mine to help people in a country where the law doesn't tie them to specific policies and ensure justice is served for everyone equally. My interests not related to Law which I find therapeutic include yoga, fitness and self research. I enjoy taking long hikes along scenic routes, as i find it a great way to de-stress and keep focused.

Emily Clothier

Community Law Project - Paralegal

I'm Emily Clothier, a final year law student at Queens University Belfast. I was initially interested in how law impacts public policy and I chose to become a lawyer because I believed the law to be a powerful tool for social change and the benefit of the public. I still believe this, but what motivates me more is seeing how the legal system is currently failing us – the most pertinent example being continuous cuts to legal aid and decreasing access to justice. I am therefore passionate about being able to provide pro bono legal aid work throughout my career and I'm excited to be able to do this through the community law project.

Kristina Gospodinova

My name is Kristina and I am currently studying Law at Birkbeck, University of London. I believe that Law is a powerful tool, to which not everyone gets access. I decided to join the project as there are currently too many people that cannot afford the legal aid and advice they need in perusing justice. I think that this project is an amazing opportunity for us to help each other as a community and provide people of low income with the help and support that they need, while gaining a great experience as law students and graduates.

Yasmeen Linjawi

Community Law Project - Paralegal

My name is Yasmeen Linjawi, I am a legal practitioner from Saudi Arabia and I hold a master's degree in Commercial Law from Melbourne University. I grow-up with the nature of taking care of others, this reminded me of my bigger role in life. I used to help people around me by reaching-out even in the simplest way possible, but after I graduated from the Law department in King Abdul-Aziz University, I realised how much people need the legal knowledge I obtain and that a single legal procedure made correctly could essentially change their lives. Therefore, I decided to always find ways to share my time and knowledge.

My interest lies in corporate and commercial law, and I am aiming to qualify as a lawyer at an international law firm. I enjoy volunteering in my free time and am looking for pro bono opportunities on refugee rights, child rights, women rights, and immigration law.
