Nasim Ahmed

Community Law Project - Paralegal

Hello, I'm Nasim. I am currently a postgraduate law student, on the verge of completing the GDL at the University of Law. I will be starting my journey on the LPC shortly after. I have participated in several charitable organisations, working to assist many groups that have been marginalised by society, and who have also seen many of the core services on which they depend on, face substantial cuts for a decade. Access to justice for all on a universal level is a core belief of mine. However, my experience and the experience of those I have worked with, have shown that such access is hard for some, especially the most marginalised. Whilst volunteering at the West Croydon Law Centre, notably within the area of debt advisory, I have helped apply the law practically, in order to assist local residents with their personal debts, through arranging financial plans and mediating the process of having them set in place with the relevant creditors. Currently I sit on the board of trustees at Leaders in Community, a leading youth charity. I assist on a strategic level, particularly regarding legal, structural and funding matters - Ensuring that due diligence is taken at all significant stages. Most recently I have overseen the CEO recruitment, selection and appointment process - encountering delicate situations regarding grievances and conflicts of interest along the way, ultimately ensuring that the process was fair, legal, and protects the charity.
